Fast Forward is a non-profit organization established by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society  to accelerate the development of treatments for MS. In May 2010 FivePrime and Fast Forward announced an alliance whereby Fast Forward will provide funding for a FivePrime preclinical candidate for the treatment of MS. Under the terms of the agreement, Fast Forward will commit to fund specified preclinical studies to advance FivePrime’s innovative protein therapeutic in this area. Unlike existing treatments for MS, FivePrime’s candidate drug targets specific cells of the innate immune system, which is believed to be important for both relapsing remitting MS as well as for the progressive form of the disease for which there is currently no treatment.
